EASA Part-66 Category B2 License

Category B2 is for Avionics Engineers, who specialize in aircraft electrical and avionics systems, including instruments, navigation, and communication systems.

  • Educational Qualification: An engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, or a related field is typically required.
  • Practical Experience: As with B1.1, candidates need 2 years of OJT experience in the field of avionics.
  • Candidates must complete 14 modules, which cover:
    Aircraft electrical principles
    Avionics systems and instruments
    Communication, navigation, and radar systems
    Maintenance practices for avionics systems
  • Candidates must pass written exams for the 14 B2 modules, which focus on electrical, avionics, and systems-related knowledge.
  • As with B1.1, candidates must complete practical experience through OJT in an EASA-approved facility, typically for 1-2 years. This experience must focus on avionics systems.
  • A logbook must be maintained to record all practical experience during OJT.


Apply for the License: Once the exams are passed and the OJT is completed, the candidate can apply for the Part-66 B2 license
